Privacy Policy

Your family’s communication data stays on your device.

This policy explains how Luma Home Communication handles information in the current v1 app and on this website.

Last updated: May 9, 2026

Summary

  • Luma does not require an account in v1.
  • Luma does not create child accounts.
  • Luma does not include ads, tracking, analytics, or cloud sync in v1.
  • Child profile information, custom cards, photos, audio, and check-ins are stored locally on the device.
  • Parents can delete local child profile, check-ins, custom cards, photos, and audio from the app’s Privacy & Data screen.

Information stored in the app

Luma may store information that a parent or caregiver enters or creates in the app, such as a child nickname, communication level, card language, favourite cards, custom card labels, parent-selected photos, parent-recorded audio, and parent check-ins.

This information is stored locally on the device. Sensitive app data and parent-created media are encrypted at rest by the app.

Information Luma does not collect in v1

The current v1 app does not collect account identity, email address, phone number, location, contacts, analytics events, advertising identifiers, crash reports, cloud backups, or remote API request data.

Photos and microphone

Luma requests photo library access only when a parent chooses an image for a custom communication card. Luma requests microphone access only when a parent records custom card audio. Parent-selected photos and recorded audio stay on the device inside Luma’s local app storage.

Support email and website

If you contact us by email, we receive the email address and information you choose to include in your message. Please do not email sensitive child information unless it is necessary for support.

This public website may be served by hosting and domain providers that process ordinary technical information needed to deliver the website, such as IP address, browser information, and request logs. This website is separate from the local app data stored on your device.

Children’s privacy

Luma is intended to be set up and managed by a parent or caregiver. The app does not ask children to create accounts, does not show child-facing ads, and does not include child-facing purchases or external links in the Communicate Now experience.

Deleting app data

Parents can delete local child profile, check-ins, custom cards, photos, and audio from the Privacy & Data screen in the app. Deleting the app from the device may also remove local app data, depending on the operating system.

Medical and educational note

Luma is supportive and educational. It is not a diagnostic tool, medical device, therapy provider, or replacement for individualized care from a speech-language pathologist, physician, psychologist, occupational therapist, or other qualified professional.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Luma’s features or data practices change. If a future version adds accounts, cloud sync, analytics, crash reporting, or support uploads, this policy and App Store privacy disclosures must be updated before release.
